Job Summary:
The Veterinary Nutritionist is responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on animal nutrition to support the overall health and well-being of animals under veterinary care. Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive assessments of animal nutrition requirements, taking into consideration factors such as age, breed, species, medical conditions, and lifestyle.
2. Develop personalized nutrition plans for animals, ensuring the provision of balanced and appropriate diets to meet their specific needs.
3. Collaborate with veterinary teams to provide nutritional support for animals with complex medical conditions, including obesity, diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, and allergies.
4. Stay updated with the latest research and developments in veterinary nutrition and integrate new knowledge into practice.
5. Provide guidance on feeding practices, including portion control, feeding frequency, and selection of appropriate food products.
6. Educate and advise pet owners, breeders, and animal care professionals on the importance of proper nutrition and its impact on animal health.
7. Offer dietary recommendations for animals transitioning from one life stage to another, such as growth, pregnancy, and senior years.
8. Evaluate and recommend specialized nutritional supplements and therapeutic diets to address specific health concerns.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
2. Board certification in Veterinary Nutrition (ACVN/ECVIM) or completion of a residency program in Veterinary Nutrition.
3. In-depth knowledge of animal physiology, metabolism, and nutrient requirements.
4. Strong analytical skills to evaluate animals' nutritional needs and develop appropriate diet plans.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with veterinary teams, pet owners, and industry professionals.
6. Proficient in researching and interpreting scientific literature related to veterinary nutrition.
7. Ability to stay updated with advancements in the field of veterinary nutrition and apply new knowledge in practice.
